This training workshop provides a comprehensive curriculum as it pertains to professional counseling, yoga therapy, and the values and ethics of the healing arts.
Embracing the healing guidance from Western and Eastern medicine, neuroscience, psychology, and movement, participants will learn empowering and comprehensive self-regulation practices to use with clients in a therapeutic setting. The evidence informed skills from cognitive behavioral therapies, EMDR, movement, meditation and breathing practices will demonstrate to health care providers how to stabilize moods, calm emotions, control impulses, and help their client base have a deeper understanding of and commitment to daily self-care and inquiry. This training is ideal for, social workers, mental health providers, addiction counselors, recovery coaches, yoga therapists, and behavioral health care providers seeking a more holistic/trauma sensitive, belief based model of care for the diverse populations and communities they serve.
Many health care practitioners and psychotherapists utilize movement and stress management exercises for their own self-care and recognize these as effective adjunctive approaches for diverse physical/mental health issues. This workshop introduces integrative and inclusive practices as it pertains to professional counseling, yoga therapy, and the values and ethics of the healing arts.
The combined knowledge and expertise of the presenters will introduce specific integrative treatment protocols intended to clear and release the belief based reactions to anxiety, depression, addictive cravings, chronic stress, trauma triggers, and other physical/mental health concerns. The presenters will discuss how to appropriately, ethically, and safely incorporate these techniques into different therapeutic settings with diverse populations. This workshop will provide an opportunity to practice (with each other, on the floor, standing, or seated as they wish), experience, ask questions, and discuss the benefits of these methods for therapeutic self-care.
Utilizing best research based practices, participants will:
- Understand the emotional, and biological benefits of stress management practices for physical/mental health care (Health and Dis-ease, Mental Health, Addiction, Additional Knowledge and Education, Body and Mind Integration, Yoga Therapy Tools, Ethical Principles). Participants will select various practices each day to gain experience between sessions, will share with class what and why the particular tool was selected at the next day’s session.
- Learn and practice how breathing, movement, and meditation can rebuild neural pathways in the brain for new behaviors and relapse prevention (Competencies: Body and Mind Integration, Yoga Therapy Tools, Principles of the Therapeutic Relationship

Participants will learn how to assess and design appropriate health/mental health self-care practices (Ayurveda) for the client’s level of care and formulate a treatment plan (Competencies: Additional Knowledge Familiarity, Body and Mind Integration, Basic Principles of the Therapeutic Relationship). Participants will submit a case study of an assessment and self-care plan for a client and will receive feedback from the presenters in mentoring session following course completion.
